The charge came after a trans woman was kicked out of grocery store bathroom by security guard.

Ebony Belcher was forcibly removed from a D.C. Giant grocery store bathroom by a transphobic security guard, leading to the unidentified guard being charged with simple assault.

Whilst visiting the store in order to pick up a delivery, Belcher asked where the toilet facilities were. She was pointed in the right direction by staff and on the way past a female security guard.

As Belcher entered the bathroom, the security guard “opened the door and came in and started calling [her] derogatory names”.

The guard then proceeded to force Belcher by her shoulder and arm out of the Giant store in northeast D.C.

Belcher suffers from Parkinson’s disease and has said that she nearly fell as the guard was shoving her out of the store.

Giant responded to the incident, saying:

“As this matter involves a third party that provides security services for Giant and there’s an ongoing criminal investigation, all inquiries related to the incident at the H Street Giant should be directed to the local police for a comment at this time.”

The guard, who is supposedly a special police officer, was arrested outside the store after the incident.

Meanwhile, a woman was recorded walking through Target with her 12 children, accusing the store of allowing the devil into their bathrooms.
