Mural shows Donald Trump building a ‘special relationship’ with Vladimir Putin

Donald Trump has been very clear that he doesn’t want a special relationship with the UK… but a street mural shows him engaged in special relations with Vladimir Putin.

The billionaire former reality star and presumptive Republican Presidential nominee has worked hard to attack some of America’s closest allies in recent days, suggesting that he doesn’t expect to have a “good relationship” with David Cameron, and attacking London mayor Sadiq Khan.

Given the ever-growing list of countries that Trump has alienated and offended, you might be forgiven for thinking there aren’t many world leaders left who he would be friendly with.

However, one artist appears to think that Trump will get along a little too well with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The mural popped up on on the side of a BBQ restaurant in Vilnius, Lithuania – with artist Mindaugas Bonanu putting hours into creating the work.

The restaurant’s co-owner Dominykas Čečkauskas told AFP: “We see many similarities between these two ‘heroes’ (Putin and Trump). They both have huge egos, and it’s amusing to see they are getting along well.

“It seems we have a new Cold War, and America may have a president who seeks friendship with Russia.”

A caption next to the photo reads ““MAKE EVERYTHING GREAT AGAIN”.

A snap of the mural has gone viral online, earning thousands of retweets and Facebook shares.

Lithuanian politics professor Kestutis Girnius told AFP that the mural symbolised the country’s ill-feelings towards Mr Trump, and concerns he would leave Lithuania vulnerable.

He said: “Trump has notoriously stated that Putin is a strong leader, and that NATO is obsolete and expensive.

“This graffiti in Vilnius expresses the fear of some Lithuanians that Donald Trump is likely to kowtow to Vladimir Putin and be indifferent to Lithuania’s security concerns.”

Of course it’s not the first viral painting featuring Mr Trump.

Hopefully the artist won’t suffer the same fate as the person who painted a naked portrait of Trump – who was roughed up by Trump supporters after the painting got attention.
