And now, it turns out, he insisted that the Kardashians be kicked off set, during filming for an episode of TV’s New Girl the singer was set to star in.

Zooey Deschanel – star of the Fox sitcom – told Conan O’Brien Monday that Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner had filmed a cameo for the episode.

However, the Purple Rain singer demanded their scenes be cut.

The actress explained that Prince was a fan of the sitcom and had contacted her saying he wanted to guest star in an episode.

The writers quickly came up with a storyline in which her character Jess manages to get into one of Prince’s celebrity-packed parties.

“I’m not exactly sure how the celebrities for the parties were chosen but someone was friends with some of the Kardashians and had made a phone call,” Deschanel explained.

Khloe and Kris agreed to come and shoot a small part of the party scene, she said on Conan’s late night talk show on TBS.

“I get there the day that Prince is supposed to arrive and I’m studying my lines and one of the PAs comes in and says, ‘I need all the sides, the scripts.’

“She takes mine from me, takes everyone else’s, takes everyone’s call sheets and takes them all.”

“I go outside and she has a bonfire. She’s burning all the scripts and call sheets,” the 36-year-old added.

“It turns out someone at Prince’s camp said, ‘Who are the celebrities? I hope it’s not a Kardashian!”

When the episode was eventually broadcast, there was no sign of any member of the celebrity reality family.

Prince, full name Prince Rogers Nelson, was found dead in his Minnesota aged 57 last month.

The singer rose to fame in 1982 with his breakthrough album 1999, selling more than 100 million records throughout his career.
