Columnist and sausage-lover Katie Hopkins has attacked an adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream including a gay kiss.

The reality TV personality attacked the Russell T Davies adaptation which will air on the BBC at the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The Queer as Folk creator, Davies, announced this week that the 90-minute TV version would include the lesbian kiss.

He said: “I wanted to have a man with a man, a man who was dressed as a woman with a man, and a woman with a woman because it’s 2016, so that’s the world now.

“I wanted children to watch this and see the real world in the middle of this fantasy.”

Initially stating that she wants her 7-year-old son to be gay, Hopkins in her Daily Mail column invokes an old stereotype to say she tries to “show him the way” by playing Kylie tracks to him, and sees it as a “positive sign” that he is “proud of his six pack”.

Going on, she accuses the BBC of “pursuing a left-wing liberal agenda”.

But she said the BBC tries to make “everything into a politically correct lecture”,

She writes: “Before the LGBT community start running for a safe space, be reassured I fully support the right of everyone to be whatever they like. Even if that is a man, dressed as a woman, who identifies as gender neutral but still fancies his mum.

“I have performed at Gay Porn Idol, and loved every sequinned minute. I do drag well.

“I hope my son will be gay. He can dance and is proud of his six-pack at seven, which I am taking as a positive sign. I play Kylie to him in the kitchen to show him the way. I hope one day when I am older, perhaps he will finally teach me how to dress with style.”

The columnist adds: “I don’t want Shakespeare queered-up so you feel more at home. And if you’ve got a problem with that, I couldn’t give a flying Puck.”

Hopkins is probably currently getting lubed up anyway, as she promised to streak through London with a sausage up her bum, should Sadiq Khan be elected as mayor… which he just has.

It was recently announced that she is to present her own show on national talk radio station LBC.

Hopkins appeared as a guest presenter on the station a year ago, where she was attacked by listeners over a Sun column in which she compared migrants to “cockroaches”.

She also had her self styled ‘gay icon’ status revoked after claiming that ‘100%’ of British Muslims want homosexuality banned.
