The living dead have decided to boycott North Carolina over the state’s new anti-LGBT law.

The state has lost a string of big investment ventures over Governor McCrory’s decision to sign HB 2 – which voided all local ordinances protecting LGBT rights, bans transgender people from using their preferred bathroom, and permits businesses to discriminate against LGBT people on the grounds of religious belief.

McCrory continues to insist the changes are “common sense”, despite legal action threatening to cost the state millions, combined with thousands of job losses.

A string of big stars have lined up to cancel engagements in the state, from Sharon Stone to Ringo Starr to Bruce Springsteen.

But a new force has joined the fray: zombies.

The Walker Stalked Convention had been set to take place in July at the Charlotte Convention Center, North Carolina.

However, the three-day convention packed full of events and panels has been scrapped – with a new date tentatively pencilled in for December.

A statement says: “Walker Stalker Convention has always been a place for ALL fans, regardless of who they are, or who they love. As such, we must add our voice to those opposing the injustice of North Carolina House Bill 2, and postpone our June 25-26 2016 Charlotte event.

“We have faith in the people of North Carolina, and have moved our event to December 17-18 2016, in the hope that by that time this unfair law will have been repealed.

“We will continue to evaluate the situation in the coming months, but for the moment, if you are able to attend the new date, you do NOT need a new ticket.

“Simply bring your CURRENT ticket to the event printed or on your phone, and it will be honoured. You do NOT need to email us, or make any changes to your account for your ticket to be honoured during the July dates.

“If you unable to attend, refunds will be given in the same method in which payment was made.”
