Messing, who starred opposite Eric McCormack in the hit sitcom, posted a picture of the handwritten note on Twitter.

“D.M, You + Eric got me through my tough coming out years with ‘W+G’!

“So glad you fly with us. Thanks for everything! – Nick”

Messing responded to the message by saying she was “so grateful” to the grateful fan, before tweeting it to McCormack so he could see it for himself.

“A note from a Flight Attendant. So grateful. @EricMcCormack”, she wrote.

Last year, Messing said that she regrets that the trailblazing sitcom wrapped up when it did.

The show – one of the first mainstream sitcoms to focus on gay life – aired 194 episodes across eight seasons between 1998 and 2006, and has been credited with helping to change public perceptions on LGBT issues.

However, Messing – who played lead Grace Adler on the show for all eight seasons – says she regrets that the show did not go on for longer.

When asked what she would change about the show, she said: “I guess I would change the fact that we stopped [the show] after eight years.

“It was such a happy time, and we were all really exhausted by that point and it was the right thing to do at that time, but now obviously time has passed, and I watch the show with my son who laughs at it and I think it would’ve been really great to do it a few more years.

Messing – who recently hit out at Susan Sarandon over the US presidential race – recently shared her heartbreak at missing out on the cast reunion.
