A waitress from North Carolina was told to read Leviticus by anti-gay customers.

A gay waitress has revealed she was ‘tipped’ with a Leviticus Bible verse instead of cash.

Alexandra Judd posted a picture of the hateful message left by a group of diners in North Carolina.

Judd was shocked to find that instead of the usual 15% tip she usually received, the customers instead suggested she read ‘Leviticus 20:13’.

Unsurprisingly, the verse is one many gay people are only too familiar with.

“If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, it is an abomination,” it reads.

“They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

“I’ve heard of people leaving fake money, or writing funny stuff in the tip spot of a check,” Judd told WBTV-TV.

“But [I] never believed it would happen to me, in the way that it did.”

The bottom of the bill also shows the message, “Praying for you”, under the diners’ signature.

Judd told WBTV the group was also “very rude” to her.

“I don’t care what anyone says, this is the most disrespectful thing you can do,” the waitress later wrote on Facebook.

“Don’t pray for me darling, I have everything I could possibly want and need in my life.”

Last month North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed law which voids all local ordinances protecting LGBT rights, as well as permitting businesses to discriminate against LGBT people on the grounds of religious belief.

The new law also bans transgender students in public schools from using their preferred bathroom.

McCrory’s decision has attracted a legal challenge as well as a growing boycott of the state, with over 100 companies slamming the decision.

The governor earlier this week issued an order attempting to water down the anti-LGBT law following a huge backlash – but most of its provisions remain in place.
