Debra Messing is not happy about being made to film in North Carolina over the state’s anti-LGBT law.

The state has lost a string of big investment ventures over Governor McCrory’s decision not to veto an anti-LGBT law which voided all local ordinances protecting LGBT rights, bans transgender students in public schools from using their preferred bathroom, and permits businesses to discriminate against LGBT people on the grounds of religious belief.

McCrory has since issued an order aimed at watering down the provisions – but continues to insist the changes are “common sense”.

In spite of this, Will and Grace star Debra Messing will have to head to the state this week to film a remake of ‘Dirty Dancing’.

The actress tweeted her unhappiness at being made to film in the state. she said: “Heading to NC. Joining filming of Dirty Dancing, a story about inclusion and tolerance.

“Regarding my travelling to NC: I wish film production could have been stopped, but it was already in production and sadly it was determined to be too late.

“I signed a contract and I am obligated to fulfil it. I am happy, however, that this film is about tolerance and inclusion. I will continue to speak out to again this hateful discrimination.”

She added: “Let’s stand together against the Governor’s actions. Please support the ACLU’s petition to repeal anti-LBGT #HB2.”

Activists recently attempted to make as much noise as possible to challenge North Carolina’s governor over the state’s anti-LGBT law.
