The actor explained that he wanted to give fans “a little skin” before they see him in the upcoming Tarzan remake.

Alexander Skarsgård decided to tease those who are eagerly awaiting his eagerly-anticipated turn as Tarzan by arriving at the recent MTV Movie Awards minus his trousers.

Promoting his upcoming movie, The Legend of Tarzan, a half-naked Skarsgard was joined by co-star Samuel L. Jackson as they presented the Movie of the Year Award.

“You’re not wearing any pants,” Jackson told his co-presenter as he tried to look away from Skarsgard’s bottom half.

“Nope, no pants, no pants,” Skarsgård replied.

“Me Tarzan,” Skarsgard later explained. “Gotta give the fans a little skin.”

The actor admitted that he was hoping to outdo Zac Efron, who had his shirt ripped off by Rita Ora on stage in 2014.

“I was going to go shirtless, but then someone told me Zac Efron did that two years ago here,” Skarsgård said.

“It was a historic moment,” commented Jackson.

“It’s just as sexy, but a little bit classier and – dare I say – more sophisticated. No offence, Mr. Efron,” Skarsgård quipped.

“And you definitely do look classy and sophisticated,” Jackson agreed.

This isn’t the first time the handsome True Blood star has turned heads with his choice of outfit.

Skarsgård turned heads at the première of The Diary of A Teenage Girl, when he showed up on the red carpet in full drag – leaving the world impressed, but also a little confused.

Explaining his reasons for donning the outfit, the star said he “didn’t want to be excluded from the fun”, as a number of the cast members where also drag artists.

The actor has previously spoken out in support of the LGBT community, claiming “that every human being has equal value and to bully someone or for society to discriminate against someone because they have a different sexual orientation is unacceptable.”
