With Smithers set to come out as gay, finally, in an upcoming episode of the Simpsons, here is a sneak peak of Homer trying to set him up with guys.

Waylon Smithers, voiced by Harry Shearer, has appeared on the show since the very first season in 1990, and has long been portrayed as a closeted gay men, who is in love with Mr Burns.

However, times change – and recent seasons have attempted to tackle the character’s sexuality head on.

It was confirmed last month that in episode ‘The Burns Cage’ airing April 3, Smithers will finally come out as gay.

And Simpsons writer Rob LaZebnik, who penned the episode, earlier this week revealed that the idea had a very real starting point.

In the below trailer, Smithers is offered a ‘Tom Collins’, a man – not a cocktail, and George Takei jibes about “horror stories of working with Bill Shatner?”.

Mac came out in an episode earlier this month, after a gay couple he tries to “cure” turn the tables on him, and he revealed his own feelings.
