Ted Cruz is very happy about all the anti-gay groups endorsing him

Presidential wannabe Ted Cruz is super happy about all the endorsements he’s getting from listed anti-LGBT hate groups.

A militant opponent of gay rights, Cruz is one of several Republican candidates to have backed a new ‘religious freedom’ law which would allow religious people to discriminate against married gay couples – while he also plans to void same-sex marriage entirely, and scrap Obama’s LGBT rights orders.

Cruz has also ducked tough questions about his links with ‘death to gays’ pastor Kevin Swanson – and says he’s “proud” to be endorsed by pastor Mike Bickle who claims gays will cause the apocalypse, and that Hitler was sent by God.

However, they’re not the only anti-LGBT figures lining up behind team President Cruz.

Speaking to a right-wing radio host yesterday, Cruz doubled down on his plan to void all gay weddings, and also took some time to thank the listed hate groups supporting him.

According to Right Wing Watch, he said: “We are seeing an assault on religious liberty from Washington that is unprecedented.”

“Much of this persecution is the fruit of the Supreme Court decision last year. You asked about differentiating from other candidates… it was sad to see Donald Trump and Marco Rubio agreeing with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that the gay marriage decision was the law of the land. I think that’s very sad.

“My views are different – I believe that decision was fundamentally illegitimate, it was lawless, it was unconstitutional and it will not stand.

He continued: “I would note, that is precisely why Dr James Dobson has endorsed me in this campaign, it is why Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council has endorsed me in this campaign.

“It’s why the National Organization on Marriage [sic] has endorsed me on this campaign and said it cannot support Donald Trump or Marco Rubio – because if we’re not willing to defend marriage, we are giving up the foundational building blocks of the family, we’re giving up the Judeo-Christian values that built this great nation.”

The Family Research Council is listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, while the head of NOM recently suggested gay sex should still be a crime.

Despite the claims of Cruz, both Senator Rubio and Mr Trump have backed a plan to overturn equal marriage.
