Caitlyn Jenner epitomises ‘third gender’ says legendary photographer

Annie Lebovitz has praised the former Olympian, who she photographed for Vanity Fair last year.

Celebrated photographer Annie Lebovitz – the woman behind Caitlyn Jenner’s infamous Vanity Fair ‘Call me Cait’ cover – has championed the reality star as launched the exhibition.

The former decathlon gold medallist is featured alongside the likes of pop diva Adele and Queen Elizabeth II in a new exhibition by Leibovitz currently on show in Tokyo.

“What I like about what Caitlyn Jenner has done for us is that she has sort of opened up this whole idea that maybe there’s more than two genders,” said Leibovitz.

“Maybe it’s a little more complicated than we were thinking. There are many parts to gender.

“She had everything money could buy, including the breasts – she had beautiful breasts.”

Revealing that her name was Caitlyn, Jenner appeared in a shoot by the legendary photographer for Vanity Fair magazine – shot at her Malibu home – last June.

Jenner will soon write her memoir about transitioning, she announced last month.

According to the New York Times, Jenner has been working on getting the book deal for some time.

Buzz Bissinger – the Pulitzer Prize winning magazine writer – will co-author the book.

The columnist was also behind the ‘Call Me Caitlyn’, article in Vanity Fair.

“I made it clear to her before I agreed that everything has to be on the table, nothing can be left out, and I’m going to be interviewing dozens of other people,” Bissinger said.

“It’s her book, but it’s going to be reported out to keep her honest. She’s been incredibly open, and I think it has the potential to be a really important book.”

Jenner said “things have been moving so quickly that it will be nice to slow things down a bit and take the proper time to reflect on this journey”.

She added that she “couldn’t pick a better team” and said she, her publisher and Bissinger want “to make sure this story is told with a lot of honesty and care.”

The book is set for an early 2017 release.
