Elton John plays moving musical tribute to David Bowie (VIDEO)

Elton John has paid an amazing musical tribute to the late music legend David Bowie.

David Bowie died earlier this week following an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.

Playing at a special concert at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, Sir Elton played an extended instrumental version of ‘Space Oddity’.

The reading went into Sir Elton’s ‘Rocket Man’, with the full band.

Leading into the performance, however, the star talked about the beginnings of his career, when he was searching for a producer.

He said he heard ‘Space Oddity’, produced by Gus Dudgeon, with who Sir Elton went on to work.

“I have David Bowie to thank for that amazing collaboration,” said the singer before the tribute.

Sir Elton was not the first to pay tribute to Bowie, Madonna paid tribute by covering Bowie’s ‘Rebel Rebel’ earlier this week.
