Santa Claus pays a visit to the ladies of OITNB (VIDEO)

Joe Williams December 23, 2015

Even the prisoners of Litchfield Penitentiary are feeling the festive cheer.

Santa Claus is known for rewarding those on the ‘nice’ list only – so why did he bother to pay a visit to the cast of ‘Orange is the New Black’?

That is the premise of a special seasonal video released by the makers of the hit Netflix show, which shows all of our favourite inmates tell the story of the night St Nick stopped by Litchfield Penitentiary.

The comedy drama has gained an even larger fanbase over the past twelve months, winning countless awards and critical acclaim alike.

Loved by fans for its positive and honest representation of its female characters, the show has also won praise for its inclusion and exploration of a range of LGBT issues.

Uzo Aduba – who plays Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren in the show – has proven particularly popular and recently nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

The actress has also won two Emmys for her performance on the show.

Trans actress Laverne Cox – who plays trans hairdresser Sophia – has also won praise, for her realistic portrayal of her character.

Cox has used her new found fame to bring trans issues to the forefront of American popular culture.

She has continued to shed light on the issues facing the trans community, from transphobia to what makes a trans women beautiful.

“All the things that make me uniquely and beautifully trans—my big hands, my big feet, my wide shoulders, my deep voice—all of these things are beautiful.

“I’m not beautiful despite these things, I’m beautiful because of them.”

Check out both actresses – and the rest of the inmates – deliver some festive cheer below.
