Watch lesbian lawmaker shout down man who claims she is anti-Semitic

Joe Williams December 15, 2015

Sheila Kuehl did not take to kindly to the insult – especially as she is Jewish herself.

During a recent meeting of the LA County Board of Supervisors, a man took issue with the board for voting to accept Syrian refugees into the county.

He claimed that Muslim people were “taught” to hate Jewish people “their whole lives” and by allowing them into the county, lawmakers are effectively welcoming more anti-Semitic crime.

The citizen criticised the board’s decision, claiming that they were making a mistake and calling Ms Kuehl an “anti-Semitic scum bag”.

Unfortunately for him, Ms Kuehl was not having any of it.

The lesbian lawmaker was quick to respond, shouting down the man’s accusations.

“Listen, you asshole, I am a Jew! My mother was a Jew! And if you say that again, I will shout the entire time you are talking! Thank you.”

However, rather than have the man removed, Ms Kuehl asks that he be allowed to speak and that his two-minute time limit be restarted.

Ms Kuehl’s long political career includes eight years in the California State Senate and six years in the California State Assembly.

She was also the first openly gay person elected to the California legislature.

The lawmaker was elected to the Board of Supervisors last year.

Watch the heated exchange below.
