Feminist author Shirley Conran says she was delighted to receive an invite to her son’s wedding, after the pair fell out over a decade ago.

Conran wed his Irish boyfriend – artist and performer Oisin Byrne – in an opulent ceremony over the weekend.

The pair exchanged vows at Wardour Castle in Wiltshire, surrounded by close friends and family – including the fashion designer’s estranged mother.

“I was there,” Shirley Conran told the MailOnline of the big day.

“It was a very splendid wedding and a very enjoyable day, but I don’t want to say any more about it.”

The writer had previously told of the upset her feud with her openly gay son had caused her, saying she feared they would not resolve their issues before her death.

“I’m sad,” she said. “I want to make up with Jasper before I die and when I do I will take out a full-page ad in The Times to tell everyone.”

Jasper Conran is well-known for fashion creations, as well as his love of designing costumes for stage and screen.

The multi award winner has designed a fashion ranges for Debenhams depatment stores since 1996.

He has subsequently designed women’s accessories, lingerie, hosiery, menswear, men’s accessories, childrenswear, and homeware for the company.
