The singer has urged others to show their support for the Democratic presidential frontrunner.

Ricky Martin has further shown his support for Hillary Clinton by setting up a new group for LGBT supporters of the candidate.

The popular Latino pop star urged LGBT voters and their allies to join ‘LGBT for Hillary’ in an email sent over the weekend.

“Hillary has been a fighter for us for years, from supporting equal workplace legislation to working for equal rights for trans Americans,” he wrote.

“Now we’re standing with her. Will you join us?”

Martin – who came out in 2010 – said he was voting for Clinton to ensure the LGBT rights remain at the forefront of US politics.

“Growing up in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, I never dreamed that I would one day be a proud, out gay father of two beautiful little boys, in a country where marriage equality was the law of the land.

“Now, that’s just an average day — that’s what real progress is.”

“Hillary knows this, and she’s not going to stop fighting,” he added.

But in order to protect and build on the progress we’ve made, we need to win this election.”

The singer – who pledged his support for Clinton earlier this year – is a father to sons Matteo and Valentino, born by a surrogate mother.

In August, Martin launched a scathing attack on Clinton’s right-wing rival, Republican favourite Donald Trump.

The star branded the controversial billionaire a “xenophobic liar”, before advising his Hispanic fans to shun the “racist” businessman.

“We have to defeat the power that Trump pretends to have over Latinos, anchored in low rhetoric and xenophobic speech, which his campaign team is convinced works for him,” he said.

“Xenophobia as a political strategy is the lowest you can go in search of political power.”

Trump is currently topping opinion polls for the Presidential nomination despite his shambolic campaign so far – claiming that Mexico is forcing “criminals, drug dealers and rapists” into the US and failing to explain why he believes in ‘traditional’ marriage despite being married three times.

The former reality TV star sparked further outrage last week when he called for all Muslims to be barred from entering the United States in the wake of terrorism attacks in Paris and California.
