The actress has become the latest celebrity to pose in nothing but a towel for renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino.

Stewart’s portrait is the 91st in the photographer’s provocative sequence of images – which he regularly shares on his Instagram page.

Testino describes the project as a liberating experience for the subjects.

“I think guys and girls feel this freedom at being able to express themselves because there is no predetermined way of how they should put the towel on,” he said.

“You can do anything you want. Wear it however you want.”

He says that the photographs were originally inspired by supermodel Kate Moss after took a snap of the her wrapped in several towels on the set of photoshoot.

The former Twilight star appeared to open up about her sexuality earlier this year, referencing tabloid stories by saying: “Google me, I’m not hiding.”

She follows in the footsteps of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Cara Delevingne, Justin Bieber and Cristiano Ronaldo in posing for the series.

Speaking to PrideSource, the star said she liked the rumours, as they differed from the ongoing tabloid interest in her relationship with Justin Bieber.

“Honestly, I loved it,” she said. “I didn’t mind it. Especially because they weren’t talking about other people in my life for once, which was wonderful.”

Going on, however, she said she was not dating Delevingne, but that she had questioned her own sexual orientation.
