Stephen Colbert has ripped into a Republican lawmaker who claimed you can now marry a lawnmower, because same-sex marriage is legal.

Iowa congressman Steve King made the bizarre claim last month, while speaking at a campaign event for Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.

Speaking about the Supreme Court ruling that brought same-sex marriage to all 50 states, King has claimed: “Their ruling really says anybody can marry anybody — and eventually it will be in any combination”, adding: “It only requires one human being in this relationship… you could marry your lawnmower with this decision.”

Given the number of bakers, florists, and clerks who have refused to allow some simple human-on-human weddings, however, Late Show host Stephen Colbert worried about how you might find a caterer for a lawnmower wedding.

The good news is he’s got you covered – providing cake toppers for nearly any wedding under the sun, for any place on the slippery slope.

…and, of course, Steve King and his stupid lawnmower

In case you think you can actually marry a lawnmower, by the way… you can’t. A guy tried it.
