Avowed bigot Kim Davis has made the announcement that she is leaving behind the Democrats, in favour of becoming a Republican.

The reaction mainly kim ‘wait, Kim Davis wasn’t already a Republican?!’.

The Rowan County clerk-turned jailbird and her family made the announcement to Reuters today.

“My husband and I had talked about it for quite a while and we came to the conclusion that the Democratic Party left us a long time ago,” Davis said.

She went on: “So why are we hanging on?”

Davis was quite possibly talked around by Republican Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, who fought to host a rally for Davis outside her jail.

Going on, Davis said she saw no problem with marriage licence issued without her name.

“I don’t think there should be much of an issue,” she said, “and the judge didn’t have any problem accepting the licenses that were issued when I was incarcerated, which had been altered, so I don’t see that there should be an issue.”

Earlier this week, Davis said she had no issue with going back to jail over the same-sex marriage licence issue, and also that she has no plans to quit.

Davis had her latest request appeal denied – she had asked for a delay before the ruling that she stop interfering with her deputies issuing marriage licences to gay couples.
