Teenage boy suffers homophobic attack

Police

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager subjected to homophobic abuse outside a city centre fast food restaurant.

Devon and Cornwall Police are searching for witnesses after a 16 year-old boy was subjected to homophobic abuse by another teenage boy outside a McDonald’s in Plymouth, reports the Plymouth Herald.

The young victim was followed out of the restaurant and down New George Street by the other boy on Tuesday (July 21).

Fortunately members of the public intervened and stopped the offender before he managed to physically attack the victim.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or email [email protected] quoting crime reference number CR/051846/15.

The attack follows revelations from LGBT rights charity Stonewall that homophobic language is still a major problem across the UK and Ireland, in schools, the work place and even hospitals.
