Talk show host Raven Symone has taken aim at Caitlyn Jenner, suggesting that she needs to “learn first” before campaigning on LGBT issues.

The co-host of ‘The View’, Symone made the comments following the premiere of Jenner’s biopic series ‘I am Cait’, which was praised for drawing attention to wider LGBT issues, and anti-trans violence, rather than just Jenner’s personal life.

One scene during which the former Olympian met Kanye West has gained a lot of attention.

Raven said: “I appreciate all she’s going to do for the community. I think it’s wonderful. I’m just surprised at how many girlfriends she has all of a sudden, and how much she’s showing these stories [of transgender youths] all of a sudden.

“I think it needs a light being shined on it. It’s just a lot for me in one show, and you just came out. I mean, when I came out, I didn’t go and go hardcore and be like, ‘I’m going to save the world for LGBT.’ You got to learn first.”

Symone, who revealed to Oprah Winfrey last year that she is dating a woman but doesn’t identify as gay, recently spoke about controversies with bakeries refusing to make wedding cakes for same-sex couples, comparing one refusal to make a cake to racial discrimination.

She said, “To me, it’s the same exact thing they did back in the day saying black people couldn’t do certain things because ‘it’s my religious belief.’”
