Miley Cyrus too ‘sexually explicit’ for VMAs complain Christian group

The Parents Television Council has spoken out against MTV’s decision to choose the star as host of this year’s Video Music Awards.

Miley – who these days is more famed for partying in the USA than entertaining the nation’s children as Hannah Montana – was announced as the host of the upcoming event earlier this week.

However, the Parents Television Council – who pride themselves on their strict Christian values – has decided to take a wrecking ball to fans’ jubilation, by criticising the music entertainment channel’s risqué choice.

The censorship watchdog have issued a statement calling for the awards to be given an adult rating, as well as protesting their inability to unsubscribe from the channel.

PTC President Tim Winter told Gossip Cop that a twerk-filled VMAs are “not going to be safe for children to watch.”

“With Miley’s shtick, it’s probably going to be very edgy, very profane, very sexually explicit,” he said.

“As a parent of a teenager, the content from two years ago was clearly not appropriate for a 14-year-old. I think last year’s was toned down quite a bit.

“I think that came from advertiser pressure to not have a re-twerk,” he said, referencing Ms Cyrus’ infamous dance move.

“This year, clearly, they’re going to try to ramp it back up again.

“And based on everything we’ve seen Miley doing in recent years, she certainly seems angry and certainly seems enjoying being the provocateur,” he said.

“I think it’s unfortunate she built her entire career on the backs of parents and now she’s basically giving them the middle finger,” he said.

Last month, the star revealed she had dated men and women – however, she does identify as bisexual, wishing to avoid the pressure of labels.

She said at the time: “There are times in my life where I’ve had boyfriends or girlfriends.

“I’m not hiding my sexuality. For me, I don’t want to label myself as anything.

“We love putting people in categories, but what I like sexually isn’t going to label me as a person.”

The star has also said that she is “open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age.

A staunch LGBT rights supporter, Cyrus last year set up The Happy Hippie Foundation – a non profit organisation that rallies young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBT youth, and other vulnerable populations.
