A DJ has been found dead in a Birmingham gay bar.

Mykee Mackenzie, 34, was found dead this morning in Missing Bar in the city’s gay village, where he lived and worked.

According to ZONE Magazine, the cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the club owners said: “You may have noticed that Missing isn’t open today.

“We have received the devastating news that one of our family, Mykee Mackenzie passed away during the hours of last night. We are absolutely shocked at the news as I’m sure a lot of you will be too.

“Mykee has worked at so many venues on Hurst Street over the years and is one of the brightest characters to have graced this road and will be dearly missed!

“Missing Bar will be back open from 7pm this evening and we will be raising a glass to Mykee at 8.30pm. Anyone who would like to join us we welcome you.”

Lawrence Barton, owner of the Nightingale Club, told the magazine: ”I’m completely devastated by this shocking news.

“Mykee was someone that I loved and has been a really good friend and colleague of mine over the years and he’ll be deeply missed. My thoughts go out to his friends and family during this sad time.”
