Prime Minister David Cameron has taken aim at out gay Labour MP Chris Bryant.

Mr Cameron made the jibe about the MP for the Rhondda during Prime Minister’s Questions today, as the House erupted during a debate over the number of people participating in sport.

Acting Labour leader Harriet Harman insisted that the number had gone down since 2010, while the Prime Minister said it had gone up.

Addressing Mr Bryant, House of Commons Speaker John Bercow said: “You are now an esteemed member of her majesty’s opposition shadow cabinet – calm… Whether he’s esteemed or not, he is a member of the shadow cabinet.”

Responding, Mr Cameron said Chris Bryant “might be esteemed by you Mr Speaker, but some of us take a different view.”

Mr Bryant, who is one of the Labour party’s most senior LGB MPs, was in May promoted from an Arts minister to Shadow Secretary for Culture Media & Sport.

PinkNews notes that it is not esteemed by Mr Bryant, who has blocked us on Twitter.
