Rhode Island church makes beautiful statement for equal rights
A church in Rhode Island displayed a set of rainbow doors in support of LGBT inclusion.
Newman Congregational Church in Rumford put up it’s rainbow doors reading “God’s doors are open to all” along the fence outside the church, just days before the Supreme Court ruled in favour of same-sex marriage across the United States.
They had originally stood in the pulpit, on display to all churchgoers, before being moved outside.
Church moderator Tom Mottur told the Huffington Post it summed up the church’s motto: “Whoever you are, where ever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!”
The Church is part of the The United Church of Christ denomination, which has been openly supporting same-sex marriage for over a decade.
