A new YouTube video aims to shatter misconceptions and stereotypes about LGBT people.

The video, ‘LGBT Myths Debunked’ was posted to inform viewers of stereotypes about the community that they may believe.

Among the misconceptions listed are the beliefs that the LGBT community is more promiscuous than its heterosexual counterpart, that children raised by LGBT parents are more likely to come out as LGBT, and that being LGBT means giving up religion.

One respondent, when asked whether or not men repulsed her as a lesbian, said: “A lot of my closest friends are men because we have one very large thing in common.”

It’s learned that several stereotypes are based solely on assumptions, as no data or statistics exist to justify them.

A total of six LGBT myths are invalidated by the end of the two minute BuzzFeed clip.
