This man tried to make a point by ordering an ISIS cake, but a shopkeeper actually made it

After a man was refused his order of a Confederate flag from Walmart, he put in an order for one featuring the ISIS flag. Little did he know they’d oblige.

This comes after a debate broke out in the UK earlier this year after TV presenter Coleen Nolan appeared to compare ordering a cake with “support gay marriage” on it to one which reads “support ISIS”.

Retail giant Wallmart has apologised, saying a staff member in Louisiana who competed the order for the cake did not realise the meaning behind the flag.

Walmart last week banned the Confederate flag, saying: “We never want to offend anyone with the products that we offer.”

Chuck Netzhammer had requested a cake featuring the Confederate flag, and after being turned down by the Walmart in Slidell, Louisiana, thought he would try his luck with the ISIS flag.

In a video of the cake, Netzhammer said: “ISIS happens to be somebody we’re fighting right now and who are killing our men and boys overseas, and are beheading Christians.”

Speaking to ABC news, a Walmart spokesman said: “An associate in a local store did not know what the design meant and made a mistake,” the statement said. “The cake should not have been made.”

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom earlier this year received over a hundred complaints about comments made by broadcaster Coleen Nolan on Loose Women in a discussion about a discrimination ruling against a Northern Irish bakery.

Nolan made the comments while hosting the ITV programme on Tuesday, and was joined by Janet Street-Porter and Jamelia, as they discussed the ruling made in Belfast which found that Ashers Bakery unlawfully discriminated by refusing to make a pro-same-sex marriage cake.

She compared asking for a “support gay marriage” cake to asking for one supporting ISIS, the militant group which publicly executes gay people.
