Man ‘tackled by police’ at Pride in London after getting angry about upside-down Pride flags

Nick Duffy June 29, 2015

A man was arrested at Pride in London – after screaming about a number of Pride flags being carried the wrong way round.

The incident took place during Saturday’s parade, when a man claiming to be a local resident started shouting abuse at nearby onlookers.

After shouting and swearing at one woman, he told a PinkNews reporter on the scene that his problem was the rainbow flag was being carried “the wrong way round”.

Pride flags are generally carried with the red bar on the top and the purple at the bottom, which appears to have sparked the man’s rage.

Rather than calm down, the man grew more agitated – and was later filmed shouting at police officers.

When he attempted to wipe a flag off an officer’s face, he was pinned down and carried away from the parade.

However, the Metropolitan police told the Mirror they were unaware of an arrest.

The newspaper’s footage shows the moment the man is hauled away by officers:
