A man has been found dead at a Chariots gay sauna in South London.

Police were called to the branch of the sauna in Waterloo on Saturday morning, to reports of a death.

One man, whose age has not been confirmed was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the Evening Standard: “The death being treated as non-suspicious and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been informed.”

In March, a 37-year-old man died after collapsing at the Pleasuredrome sauna on Cornwall Road, while three men were hospitalised in February after a drugs-related incident at the Vauxhall branch of Chariots in February.

Chariots operates four saunas in the city – in Waterloo, Vauxhall, Streatham, and Shoreditch. It clarifies that it has a “very strict zero tolerance towards drugs or any other illegal activity.”

The Shoreditch branch of Chariotswas severely damaged in a fire in 2011. Around 150 men were evacuated from the club during the incident, many of them barefoot and wearing towels.

In 2012, a 46-year-old man was discovered dead in the Chariots sauna in Shoreditch.
