Here’s your chance to get inside Tom Daley’s trunks

Ever wanted to get inside Tom Daley’s trunks? Well, now you might have a chance.

The Olympic diver has donated a pair of his own swimming trunks to a charity auction, to raise money for the London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard (LLGS) – which provides confidential phone, e-mail and instant messaging services to support people who want to talk about sexuality and gender identity.

Bidding starts at £300 on the signed pair of trunks – though Switchboard specifies to any would-be pant-sniffers that the trunks are “unworn”.

Other items up for auction include the original suit worn by Andrew Scott, in his role as Moriarty in the BBC drama Sherlock, and a set of signed photos of Jessie J – which are set to pick up a hefty Price Tag.

The online bidding has already opened, and is set to close next Monday.

The charity said: “Switchboard is a voluntary organisation with charitable status, whose aim is to provide an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men, bisexual and trans* people and anyone who needs to consider issues around sexuality.

“We take all manner of calls, such as supporting a man who has been queer-bashed, supporting a lesbian teenager thrown out of her home by her parents, providing the telephone number for a gay painter or the bus route to a local gay pub.

“As the LGBT+ communities have developed over the years, so too have we, changing our services to fit the needs of our callers.

“We are committed to discussing safer sex to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Whilst we never try to influence the decisions of our callers, we aim to make them aware of their own sexual health.

“We have about 160 trained telephone volunteers. All volunteers identify as part of the LGBT+ communities, which enables them to understand the needs and situations of our service users.”
