Trans actress Laverne Cox says she a famous man who dates trans women should come forward.

The Orange is the New Black actress said that “gender policing” hurts not just trans people, but the people who date them too.

In an interview with SiriusXM she said: “Most men who are attracted to and date transgender women are probably stigmatized more than trans women are.

“I think a man who is dating trans women, who is a celebrity, or famous or is an athlete or something, needs to come forward –- or a musician –- and needs to say, ‘I love transgender women and [they] deserve to be loved and I’m going to declare that publicly.’

“I think those men need some sort of inspiration and hope, so they can live more authentically.

“As I date a lot of straight-identified men, I’ve seen them so deeply internalize these ideas very rigidly about what it means to be a man -– to be a straight man.”

She also spoke about the recent news that she is to have her own waxwork in Madame Tussards. She said: “That’s just wild. It’s such a weird thing to think about. It’s like, ‘Really? Me?’ What’s going on?’”

She recently spoke about how her Orange is the New Black character had helped a woman accept her trans daughter.
