Mr Trump, a billionaire businessman who is known for appearing on the US version of reality show The Apprentice, became the latest Republican to announce a bid for a White House this week.

The TV star – who previously explained he opposes same-sex marriage because he “just don’t feel good about it” – revealed his long-rumoured campaign at Trump Tower in New York.

However, the move has not impressed Cher – who went on a Twitter rant after his announcement.

She branded him a “loudmouth bigot” and an “arrogant asshole” with an “ego the size of Texas”.

Responding a fan who plans to move to Australia if Trump is elected, she retorted: “IF HE WERE TO BE ELECTED,IM MOVING TO JUPITER”.

Cher is a strong proponent of equality – hitting out at the Governor of Arkansas for allowing an anti-gay bill to pass into law.

She wrote: “Why am I not surprised That Asa Hutchinson, Gov of Arkansas,is hanging LBGT community out to dry⁉️”

“BTW… ALL GOP CANDIDATES SUCK”

Cher claimed previously that she was asked to perform at the Winter Olympics in Sochi – but turned the gig down because of the country’s anti-gay laws.

She said: “I can’t name names but my friend called who is a big oligarch over there, and asked me if I’d like to be an ambassador for the Olympics and open the show. I immediately said no.

“I want to know why all of this gay hate just exploded over there. He said the Russian people don’t feel the way the government does.”
