Eddie Redmayne awarded OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours list

Eddie Redmayne, who plays trans woman Lili Elbe, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Earlier this year, the first picture was released of Oscar-winner Redmayne as Elbe.

The Danish Girl will be released on 27 November.

It is based on a novel by David Ebershoff and tells the story of Ebe, an artist who transitioned in the 1930s and died aged 48, after a failed uterus transplant.

Focus Features will unveil the Working Title production in New York and Los Angeles on 27 Nov. It is directed by Oscar winner Tom Hooper, and also stars Alicia Vikander, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ben Whishaw and Amber Heard.

Eddie Redmayne won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’.

Also honoured in the list was fellow actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who played out gay codebreaker and computer genius Alan Turing in ‘The Imitation Game.’
