Controversy-monger Katie Hopkins is getting her own TV show.

The former Apprentice star and “wannabe gay icon”, who is known for making outlandish and offensive comments, has been revealed as the host of a new chatshow on TLC.

The new show, If Katie Hopkins Ruled the World, will feature the Sun columnist and celebrity guests debating “rules for everyday life” – which will be voted on by a studio audience.

Hopkins said: “People often tell me that I say the things they think but don’t have the courage to say.

“In this new show I’ll be the little voice inside their heads! Join me, and let’s see what would happen if Katie Hopkins ruled the world. It could get messy.”

Clare Laycock, head of TLC in UK and Ireland, said: “The show is a unique forum to thrash out the issues being ranted about in pubs, on Twitter and in living rooms across Britain.

“Views will be questioned, rules will be disputed and opinions will be opposed in what promises to be an exhilarating watch – perfect for TLC.”

The move will doubtless spark a backlash against the network, following comments made by Hopkins comparing migrants to “cockroaches”.

In a column this week, Hopkins claimed that gay and lesbian couples shouldn’t be allowed fertility treatment on on the NHS – and described diversity officers as “lunatics”.

Hopkins previously rejected claims that she “gatecrashed” the British LGBT Awards – sharing her VIP invitation after organisers claimed that she wasn’t invited.

Organisers Square Peg Media had denied that Hopkins was invited after she caused controversy at the event – but the columnist shared a copy of her invitation, which even came with free transport to and from the event.

She previously claimed Tom Daley’s coming out was “lame”, saying: “It was really lame… we all knew he was gay.
