A man walked naked through the streets of Manchester’s Gay Village – after his clothes were stolen by a man he met in a bar.

Police were called on Tuesday evening when a passer-by spotted the man in Manchester city centre.

According to Manchester Evening News, the man met the assailant in a bar on Canal Street – before walking to a nearby towpath.

The victim willingly removed his suit, underwear, wallet, phone and keys – but the assailant snatched them up and ran off in the direction of Whitworth Street, leaving him completely naked.

When police arrived on the scene to reports of a naked man, he explained that all his possessions and clothing had been stolen.

Inspector Phil Spurgeon of Greater Manchester Police told the newspaper: “This isn’t about blaming the victim, it’s a reminder to be aware of your surroundings and thinking about putting yourself in an obviously vulnerable position.”

The offender was described as 20-25, white, and wearing a black tracksuit.
