Anti-gay former Governor Rick Perry who has in the past compared homosexuality to alcoholism, has announced his bid to become US President.

Perry, who was previously the Governor of Texas, and is notorious for his anti-gay comments, launched rickperry.org today.

In a video on the site, both of which were paid for by Perry for President Inc, Perry calls for a President who will tell “people the truth”.

“If we’re going to revive this American dream again, we need a president who provides leadership that transcends the petty partisanship that we’ve seen in the last few years, someone that’s been tested,” he says.

“We need a president who will tell the American people the truth.”

He is one of the most notorious anti-gay Republicans, having compared homosexuality to alcoholism and regularly speaking at anti-gay rallies.

Perry attempted to back away from the comparison, claiming he got “deflected” onto a “contentious issue”.

He last year said he was “greatly disappointed” that the Boy Scouts would begin to allow gay members.
