Was the ‘remove Caitlyn Jenner’s medals’ petition actually a hoax?

The petition asking for Caitlyn Jenner’s Olympic medals to be removed is likely to be a hoax by 4chan trolls.

Signed by thousands of people yesterday,the change.org petition states that as she competed in the men’s event, her medals should no longer be valid since she has spoken about her identity as a woman.

Jenner won a gold medal in the men’s decathlon in the 1976 Olympics, as well as gold in the same event in the 1975 Pan American Games.

The step-parent to the Kardashians, Caitlyn Jenner revealed her new name as she appeared on the latest cover of Vanity Fair.

However, a post on the notorious 4chan /b forum, which often creates hoaxes and “trolls”, shows that the petition may have have been created as a way to “f*** with feminists and trannies”.

The post states: “As we all know, Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) is an Olympic gold medallist. Good for her, except there’s one problem…

“If Caitlyn has always been a woman, then she should NOT have competed on the men’s side in the 1975/6 olympics and should give up her medals.

“So let’s write a peititon, /b, to the International Olympic Committee demanding that Jenner stay true to the transgender cause and vacate her wins in the Olympics due to competeing with the wrong gender”.

The final petition says: “It is only fair to all involved that women receive their credit as champions of the Decathlon and that the men racing Ms. Jenner are not expected to compete with a superior, streamlined being such as herself.

“We urge Ms. Jenner to support the transgender community by giving up the medals earned by competing against the wrong gender.”
