Long-running soap ‘Neighbours’ is to add a new permanent gay character to its regular cast.

Aaron Brennan, played by Matt Wilson, will take to Ramsay Street later in June. Aaron is single, but wants a relationship, and will be the subject of a set-up with Indigenous character Nate Kinski.

After Aaron’s younger brother attempts to set the pair up, it is unclear whether they will get together.

The character, a stripper, will appear at the entertainment at a sexy bingo night, hosted by Sheila Canning at the Waterhole, according to Digital Spy.

The arrival of Aaron was announced last month by producers.

Wilson, in real life, was originally a qualified carpenter, but after quitting in 2011, found success as a model and actor for television.

The soap’s previous regular gay character Chris left earlier this year to go to New York. Chris dated Nate before he left the show.
