Bruce Jenner’s step-daughter is among the family members who have publicly expressed their support.

In an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer, Jenner who is a step-parent to Kim Kardashian and her siblings, confirmed that he is transgender.

During the interview, Jenner said that Ms Kardashian’s husband, musician Kanye West, was key to helping her understand Jenner’s transition. Jenner said: “Kimberly has been by far the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to.”

Yesterday she appeared on The Today Show to talk about how she felt. She said: “Bruce has the biggest heart, and I’m really happy for him that he is living the way he wants to.

“I don’t know what life would be like if you always felt like you weren’t yourself. And I know it’s not something you or I could fully understand, but I don’t even think we have to.

“As long as he is happy, that makes me happy and I support him 100%.”

She reiterated Jenner’s request to use male pronouns for the time being, and said: “Bruce wants us to feel as comfortable as possible and take everything at our own pace, and we love him for that and we respect him for that.”

Ms Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, tweeted after the interview aired: “Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.”

Bruce’s daughter Kendall posted a heart-warming image to Instagram captioned: “I wrote this in 5th grade… nothing has changed.” It said: “If I could be anybody in the world, I would be my dad”.

Her sister Kylie tweeted that it was “very hard” for her, but said: “I’m so proud of you, Dad”.

Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband Kris Humphries was one of the only people to tweet less-than-positively about Bruce Jenner.

Jenner’s ex-wife Linda Thompson also recently wrote about her support.
