UKIP’s Scottish leader David Coburn has launched a foul-mouthed attack on Ed Miliband – branding him a “wanker” and an “a***hole”

The party’s most senior gay politician made the comments in an interview with Buzzfeed.

He said: “Ed Miliband is a wanker… The guy’s a real arsehole. If the country elects him, we’re finished.”

In the interview, the Scottish MEP David Coburn again dismissed controversy after last month after comparing Muslim SNP minister Humza Yousaf to convicted terrorist Abu Hamza.

He said of homophobes in UKIP: “You get the odd one in the party, the odd grump. People don’t have to like homosexuals, they just shouldn’t kick me to death over it.

“But I do know what it’s like to be discriminated against. That’s why that stuff about Humza Yousaf was nonsense, for example, that wasn’t racist at all. I’m the last person who would be racist – I’m gay, for goodness’ sake.”

Of same-sex marriage, he added: “It’s just a trendy thing… they’re just doing it for the photos.”

Two of the party’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, Tim Wilson and Dr Jon Stanley, previously quit in protest after Mr Coburn neglected to resign over his comments about Humza Yousaf – but Nigel Farage has declined to discipline the candidate for Falkirk.

Mr Coburn rarely holds back while discussing political rivals – previously branding Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson a “fat lesbian” and comparing then-SNP leader Alex Salmond to dictator Robert Mugabe.

Despite being gay, the UKIP MEP is a fierce critic of the gay rights movement, claiming that same-sex marriage supporters are “equality Nazis” – and that the Lib Dems and Labour want to ban him from having sex.

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon branded Mr Coburn a “disgrace” during a recent televised Scottish leaders’ debate.
