South Sydney hooker Issac Luke is under fire for using a slur in an Instagram post.

He initially posted a request to get in contact with a fan who had allegedly been attacked after a match between South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canturbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. Fans clashed after South Sydney’s victory, throwing bottles at match officials, and reportedly leaving one fan in hospital.

Mr Luke reached out, promising to give the fan a gift, saying “I’m gonna make sure his Easter is a happy ad our South Sydney’s families is”.

Then, in response to attacks from Bulldogs fans, he wrote: “get off my page you lil poofters. This is about a kid your fans knocked out.”

The post has since been deleted, but Australia’s National Rugby League say they are investigating it.

Last month, an Australian rugby union player was fined for using a homophobic slur during a game.
