A UKIP candidate has blamed a ‘hacker’ for posting offensive remarks on his Facebook page – that were written over a period of several years.

Anti-UKIP blog Hope Not Hate earlier this week posted screenshots of Alan Harris – who is the party’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Oxford West and Abingdon, allegedly making anti-gay comments on his Facebook.

The candidate appeared to say: “why cant i say in my own bloody country black is still a colour and gay are still queers”

He also allegedly posted about “f**king Muslims” refusing to serve him a “bacon sandwich”.

However, Mr Harris – who has since deleted both his Facebook page and candidate page entirely – denies all wrongdoing.

He told The Independent: “I’m absolutely disgusted. My account has been hacked – again. You know what Facebook is like.

“I wouldn’t say anything about gay people because I have a gay son. I’ve got lots of Asian friends. I never said any of this.”

The comments were spread from a period ranging from October 2011 until February 2013 – so presumably Mr Harris was hacked a number of times, over and over.

A spokesman for UKIP previously said the allegations were being looked into.
