Eddie Redmayne has appeared on set as trans woman Lili Elbe, one of the first people to undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Last month the first picture was released of Oscar-winner Redmayne as Ebe.

Redmayne is to play Lili Ebe, one of the first people to undergo gender reassignment surgery, in The Danish Girl, which will be released on 27 November.

It is based on a novel by David Ebershoff and tells the story of Ebe, an artist who transitioned in the 1930s and died aged 48, after a failed uterus transplant.

Eddie Redmayne won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking last Sunday.

Focus Features will unveil the Working Title production in New York and Los Angeles on 27 Nov. It is directed by Oscar winner Tom Hooper, and also stars Alicia Vikander, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ben Whishaw and Amber Heard.
