A YouGov poll reveals 13% of Americans are or have been in an open relationship.

The Huffington Post teamed up with YouGov to ask 1000 Americans about their attitudes to open relationships and group sex. The statistics were very similar across all questions – while the majority would not consider open relationships or group sex, similar amounts of people were open to the idea.

9% said they had attended “a party where people engage in sexual activity with multiple partners” with 13% saying they would consider attending such a party. Similar numbers – 14% – said they would consider an open relationship in future.

3% said they were currently in an open relationship, and 10% said they had been in the past. Around three quarters of people said they would definitely not consider either an open relationship or attending a sex party.
