HBO’s ‘Looking’ has been cancelled – but will be wrapped up in a film

Joseph McCormick March 25, 2015

Fans of HBO’s series ‘Looking’ will have been disappointed to learn today that the series has been cancelled after two seasons.

The silver lining, however; is that the network has promised to wrap up the storylines in a special, which is still to be made.

Dubbed as the gay ‘Girls’, ‘Looking’ was unveiled in 2013, and lasted 18 episodes.

HBO this week released a statement which reads: “After two years of following Patrick and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special. We look forward to sharing this adventure with the shows loyal fans.”

Russell Tovey, who stars in the series, tweeted to say executive producer Andrew Haigh would direct the film to end the series.

Haigh directed the critically acclaimed film ‘Weekend’.

‘Looking’ was commended for dealing with a number of topical issues such as PrEP, substance abuse and hook-up apps, and starred Jonathan Groff.
