Australia: Hate mail posted to pro-same-sex marriage Senator

The advisor to the New South Wales Senator posted anti-gay hate mail to her Facebook page.

Senator David Leyonhjelm introduced a private members bill in favour of same-sex marriage last November. His senior advisor Helen Dale posted a hand-written letter received by office on her Facebook page which said “Filthy animals like you have no place in Australia”.

It accuses him of “trying to legalise sodomy” – which is not illegal in Australia, and contains a death threat: “someone should give you a blast of shotgun”.

This week it was reported that Australian MPs have received a million emails in support of same-sex marriage.

The full letter reads:

“Senator

You are up to your dirty filthy tricks again.

You are trying to introduce gay marriage. You are trying to legalise sodomy.

Filthy animals like you have no place in Australia. Let alone Australian parliament. Go back to the filthy place you came from.

The moment you legalize your filthy practise I would advise you to leave Australia in a hurry.

There will be a curse on you and your family.

Someone should give you a blast of shotgun. Preferably in the stomach.

You filthy animal.”
