Teen shares the horrifying messages his dad sent him when he came out

A gay teen has shared the abusive messages he received after coming out to his father – and received an outpouring of support online.

15-year-old Tyler, from  Vancouver, Canada, shared his father’s reaction after he came out as gay.

The teen – who does not want his last name reported – was hounded by his father on Facebook, who told him: “This is worst than death (…) I’m going to puke”.

The man wrote: “We took care of you since you were a baby. We loved you, took care of you when you’re sick. Lost many days and nights in all your fifteen years. Noe (sic) this is what we get in return, shame and embarrassment.

“If only you didn’t reject God and His teachings in your life you could have been strong enough to stay from evils and scums that surrounds you. Stay away

“You embarrass me from all the people I knew. I’m going to puke. Whatever you do it reflects on me.

“You are trying to ruin me. This is worst than death.

“Take out your post from the social media. You embarrass me… I’m going to puke.”

Tyler told HuffPo: “I just wanted to be open about it, I didn’t want to hide it anymore.”

“I’m upset with what my dad said, but I don’t hate him. I’m hoping there’s still the possibility that he could change, even it takes while.

“Maybe he could accept me, because that’s all I want… I just want him to be there for me.”

Since sharing his story on Tumblr, the teen has received hundreds of well-wishing messages.

He said: “It’s just amazing… People need to know there are so many other people who would want to love you and be your friend, so (that’s) what really matters.”
