Lena Dunham has reiterated her commitment not to marry until all couples in the US, gay or straight, are able to.

The ‘Girls’ star has been dating fun. drummer Antonoff have dated since 2012, but both vowed to hold off marrying until gay couples in all 50 US states are able to do the same.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on Monday 9 March, she said: “I had never thought about marriage that much, but it was something that was really important to Jack at an early age, and my sister’s gay.

“Of course I don’t judge anyone who chooses to get married, but the idea of having a celebration that can’t be fully shared among all of the people in my life and all of the people that we love, just doesn’t really feel like a celebration at all.”

Dunham joked that Antonoff, who funded gay rights organisation The Ally Coalition with his sister Rachel and bandmates from fun., will get stuck with her once same-sex marriage is legalised across the US.

She said: “What’s gonna happen when it’s real and he has to marry me? It’s gonna be a a disaster.”

Dunham first vowed to remain unmarried back in 2012, and has since reiterated her vow several times, saying her gay sister should be able to marry in all 50 states.

She joined the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who previously said they would abstain from getting married until every couple across America could do so. After two years, the couple announced they did not think they could wait, and married back in 2014.

Last year the Girls creator announced she is working on a documentary series about a suit-maker that caters to the transgender community.

The star is producing the HBO show, titled Three Suits, about New York tailor Bindle & Keep, which has earned a reputation for serving New York’s genderqueer and transgender community, due to its trans-friendly approach.

Dunham tweeted: “So excited about this doc [Girls writer Jenni Konner] and I are producing! Bindle & Keep: breaking down binaries, making smart suits.”
