Police investigate death of man who collapsed at London gay sauna

Police are investigating the death of a man which took place hours after he collapsed at a gay sauna in London.

The 37-year-old man was taken to St Thomas’ Hospital after being taken ill at the Pleasuredrome on Cornwall Road yesterday, reports the Standard.

Doctors at the hospital called police after he died at 3.40pm, and his death is being treated as unexplained.

Police and local community leaders are said to be meeting today to discuss how to address the incident.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: “Police were called at approximately 3.40pm yesterday by staff at a south London hospital after a man who had been admitted there earlier in the day died.

“The man, believed to be aged 37, was admitted to hospital after being taken ill at a venue in Cornwall Road. The death is being treated as unexplained at this time.”

Pleasuredrome has been served with a 24-hour closure notice following the incident, and as inquiries continue.

The venue has declined to comment to the media.
